This program focuses on the theory and application to provide essential skills in shielded metal arc welding, flux cored arc welding, gas metal arc welding, carbon arc gouging, oxyacetylene welding, plasma arc cutting, beveling and shearing. Upon successful completion of the course, students will sit for the American Welding Society D1.1 certification exam.
This course is offered in collaboration with Texas A&M training partner, Texas Southmost College.
Maritime Welding is one of the places to find a prosperous career as a welder is in the maritime industry. Shipyards and ship repair facilities are plentiful in coastal areas and on rivers and lake systems. Maritime welding can be done on land or sea and above or underneath the surface of the water. It includes the work on ships, boats, and off-shore oil rigs. It includes the installation and repair of metal structures and components.

This course covers OSHA standards, policies, and procedures in the general industry. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA General Industry Standards, general industry principles and special emphasis on those areas in general industry which are most hazardous.
This course covers the OSHA Excavation Standard and the safety and health aspects of excavation and trenching. Course topics include practical soil mechanics and its relationship to the stability of shored and unshored slopes and walls of excavations, the introduction of various types of shoring (wood timbers and hydraulic), soil classification and use of protective systems.
This course provides students with basic safety and health knowledge, including OSHA policies, procedures and standards. Special emphasis is placed on areas that are most hazardous. Upon completion, a wallet card will be issued certifying that the student has completed 10 hours of OSHA training for general industry.
This course provides entry-level operators with instruction on the proper operation of a backhoe and/or loader. Traditional classroom training provides participants with safe work practices, an understanding of machine mechanical systems and operational techniques. Hands-on exercises provide students with operational skills development designed to ensure proper use of the equipment.
Why are leaders important to the success of an organization? Leadership is essential to organizations around the world. Engaged leaders help make an organization successful and help to develop the next generation of leaders. The most successful organizations do not always recruit great leaders, they grow their own. They invest in their development to such a level that a pool of prepared and engaged talent is available to step into critical positions and responsibilities when the time comes. Quality service can only be delivered if employees are engaged, trained, and prepared to do their jobs. Employees are able to deliver an outstanding service experience and achieve measured results when leaders effectively lead their teams. Participants will learn ways to improve their leadership skills as well as their emotional intelligence. This course will provide participants with an awareness of the five leader behaviors which employees expect of their leaders. It will also identify areas within themselves that they can take action on to become a better leader or develop leadership skills that will allow them to step into leadership roles at their organization.
This course provides entry-level to advanced operators with the concepts, objectives and safety practices used during the operation of skid steer machinery in construction zone settings of all types. During the course, information covering use and site issues are discussed surrounding building construction, road and highway construction, oil field operations and pipeline work. Minimum age requirement: 18 years
