SUMMARY:Pneumatics
DESCRIPTION:Pneumatics training teaches basic and intermediate pneumatic concepts. Pneumatic power is used in many applications across a wide variety of fields\, such as agriculture\, pharmaceuticals\, and automation. Learners will gain critical hands-on experience operating pneumatic cylinders\, flow controls\, directional control valves\, air motors\, and pressure gauges. Students will learn to create working pneumatic circuits from schematics and practice skills\, such as connecting and reading a flowmeter and operating a cam-operated sequence circuit. Learners work with components they’ll actually use on the job. Major topic areas include various pneumatic and speed control circuits\, directional control valves\, air flow and resistance\, and flow control and cam valves. \n Sign Up Here

SUMMARY:Lean for Leadership
DESCRIPTION:Register Here! \nThis one day workshop teaches participants how to deploy both the improvement and coaching Kata within an organization. The workshop provides a treatment of the Toyota Kata’s theoretical framework as well as its practical application. \nThe theoretical rationale for the Toyota Kata includes a preference for the use of the scientific method\, the use of deliberate practice in the development or transitioning of mental models\, and the deployment of organizational continuous improvement. \nThe practical application includes how data is collected for determining the current condition (diagramming\, process characteristics\, process metrics\, and outcome metrics)\, and the development of a target condition. Workshop content also includes determining obstacles and the cycling of PDCA (plan\, do check\, act) experiments. \nThe workshop is not a simulation of any business process but is rather a demonstration of how the Toyota Kata applies to confronting challenging situations\, including continuous improvement.

SUMMARY:Mechanical Drives I (Maintenance/Troubleshooting)
DESCRIPTION:Register Here! \nMechanical Drives I training covers the fundamentals of mechanical transmission systems and applications\, such as how to: operate\, install\, analyze performance\, and design basic mechanical transmission systems using chains\, vbelts\, spur gears\, bearings\, and couplings. These mechanical system fundamentals can be applied to a variety of applications within the automotive\, agricultural\, and power industries.  Mechanical drives I training uses industrial quality components to cover major mechanical drives topics like shaft speed measurement\, key fasteners\, power transmission systems\, belt drive concepts\, chain tensioning\, and gear backlash. The training module features the ability to set up various drive systems\, showing learners the effects of proper alignment and how to obtain the best efficiency.  Participants will learn and practice skills such as: mounting an electric motor and correcting for soft foot condition; install and align a flexible jaw coupling; adjust belt tension; measure chain sag; and calculate gear ratio.  Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to operate\, install\, and analyze mechanical drives and how they are used in real-world applications.

SUMMARY:Measurement Tools
DESCRIPTION:BCS305; One session\, 2-days \nRegistration required. MUST be 18 years of age with a verifiable address in the Rio Grande Valley. \n8:00am-12pm AM\nMeasurement Tools training introduces the fundamentals principles of measurement including basic measurement\, precision measurement\, direct gauging\, indirect gauging\, and dimensional measurements using both the U.S. customary system as well as the S.I. metric system.  Understanding how to perform accurate measurements is relevant to technical careers such as quality control inspector\, machinist\, manufacturing engineer\, operations manager\, and production technician.  Students will apply fundamental measurement principles using industry-standard tools such as dial calipers\, micrometers\, and dial indicators to achieve accurate measurements that are essential to any technical career.  This hands-on training helps students develop skills in measuring length\, dimensions\, and gauging while learning on precisely machined parts that challenge the learner to make accurate measurements.  The measurement tools and precisely machined parts used in the training not only teach the learner how to use the tools properly\, but also teaches the proper application and use of the various parts. \n Register Here
